Key Provisions of the Order:

Short Title and Commencement:

  • The order is titled “Insulated Flask, Bottles and Containers for Domestic Use (Quality Control) Order, 2024.”
  • It will come into force 5th June 2024.

Compulsory Use of Standard Marks:

  • The specified goods or articles must conform to the corresponding Indian Standards mentioned in the order.
  • They must bear the BIS Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
  • However, the order does not apply to goods manufactured domestically for export or to certain registered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with limited investment and turnover.

Certification and Enforcing Authority:

  • The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will be the certifying and enforcing authority for the specified goods or articles.

Penalty for Contravention:

  • Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
